Our Ensembles

Beginning Band

No experience required

Beginning Band is ideal for any student who is new to playing a wind instrument, anyone who is new to music, or anyone who has experience on one instrument but would like to learn to play another. Whether you are 9 or 19, this is a great place for you to start! We will take each new student from zero knowledge to reading, playing and performing by year’s end!

Concert Band

At least one year of experience

Our Concert Band is the place to be for any student with at least one year’s experience playing their instrument. Students continue to build on what they learned in beginning band as the strength of the musical repertoire increases over the course of the year. Students of all eligible ages (9-19) are welcomed to participate and enjoy the fun of being in band!

Wind Ensemble

By audition only

Wind Ensemble is the place to to find and meet a satisfying and attainable challenge! The bar is raised and expectations are higher, bringing the student’s musicianship to the next level. Students are expected to consistently practice and be well prepared for rehearsals. Entrance into the Wind Ensemble requires an audition, judged by the entire staff of directors. Chair auditions take place routinely throughout the year.

Jazz Band

By audition only

Jazz Band is an option for Concert Band and Wind Ensemble students willing to go the extra mile to find a whole lotta fun! The Jazz Band plays rollicking Big Band music and more with significant emphasis on soloing and improvisation. This group is limited to specific instrumentation and requires an audition. Placement in Jazz Band is subject to director discretion. Students must be in good standing in Concert Band or Wind Ensemble to participate.

Concert Choir

Ages 12-19*

Concert Choir is open to students who are proficient in reading music. Preference is given to students who are also enrolled in Concert Band or Wind Ensemble or their siblings. A wide variety of choral literature is worked through and our instructors do a phenomenal job of teaching, training, and honing both the voice and the ear. The Concert Choir is a superb addition to the growth of the instrumental musician. Entrance into Concert choir requires an audition and is subject to director discretion.

*Middle school students are required to have successfully completed Beginning Band and/or be currently enrolled in a band ensemble.

Registration opens each August for the fall semester.
